Eagles

The Eagle is a symbol of ultimate freedom and sacredness. The Eagle feather is a symbol of all that is holy. Eagle feathers are an integral part of Indigenous Peoples spirituality as indigenous people of the western hemisphere and we support the rational and appropriate protection of these magnificent spiritual beings, and we respect and reserve the rights of indigenous People to honor them in their culture and daily lives as they see fit. To honor the Great Creators creation is to honor the Great Creator itself.

Pictures of Bald Eagles

Lightning Bolt has had the pleasure of watching a family of Eagles for several seasons, and in all their adventures. Here are some pictures. To All Our Relations.

A Family of Eagles Video

This year the family of Eagles has produced two babies! When you look at them it is no wonder why the Lakota call them "The Spotted Eagle" Immature Bald Eagles have no white head or tail. They develop these when they get more mature. Enjoy the video!

A Family Of Eagles (Video)

I was watching the Baby Eagles on June 21st. As I was watching, one of the babies fell out of the nest as it was hopping around. The baby caught itself about 8 feet below the nest. I watched as it flailed upside down holding on for dear life, its wings beating wildly.

Eventually it up righted itself and made it safely to a strong branch and scooted up against the trunk of the tree where it was sturdy and safe. I realized I was seeing a great lesson of life unfolding in front of me.

The Lesson is this- Some times we have to fall in order to learn how to catch ourselves and pick ourselves back up again.

On 6-25 I watched the parents bring food to their young for the last time. On 6-26 I showed up to do more filming and the nest was empty! Yes! The young Eagles have left to fulfill their destiny in the web of life!
